The Gains Lab Skills program improves your skills proficiency, whether you’re just starting out or you’re an advanced athlete. When you create your account, we collect some information about your skill level to personalize your training. As you improve, the training adjusts, so you always get the stimulus you need for each individual skill. No over-training, no endless volume.
When you’re proficient at skills, you use fewer muscle fibers and waste less energy. This is called economy of motion, and it means less fatigue and fewer breaks. Economy of motion increases your work capacity just like strength and conditioning.
Skills training should be more than just “extra eps after class”. Acquiring and developing skills is called Motor Learning and contributes directly to your performance. That means:
Focused training off the clock maximizes cognitive engagement and error sensitivity. Correct problems and build skills without time pressure.
Alignment between proficiency and volume for each skill. We’ll reinforce basics with blocked practice, randomization and interference, based on your proficiency level with each individual skill.
